I'm so excited!

Our 2 remaining RIRs are 22 weeks old.
I thought maybe Gertrude was getting ready to lay. Her comb and waddles have turner much more red then the other girl.

This morning I went to check for eggs from the EE girls, never expecting to find this.

Is it a perfect pullet egg or what?

She even laid it in my poorly constructed temporary nest box made out of a milk crate and cardboard.

I am very proud.

Wow... that looks more like an EE egg rather than a RIR... all of my RIR eggs were real dark brown.

Contgratulations !

. Getting that first egg is such a neat feeling. What color is that egg? Light Light brown?

Congrats!

My RIR is almost 24 weeks and she just started singing yesterday. I thought she was going to be my last layer, but it appears now it will be the Sicilian Buttercup.
