1st hatch, day 22, vid attached, duckling shadowing?

update, Update, UPDAAAAAATE!!!!!!! LOL

All 3 of my lil babies have, Unmistakably, 100% internally pipped & all are feverishly working on their external pips! It was so awesome getting such a clear glimpse of them ❤️❤️❤️
My day is now complete lol
I did provide my big egg with a small safety hole bc no progress since it internal pipped 2 days ago. The one I call “Wiggles” acquired a small chip in it’s shell a week or so ago (my fault!), thought for sure that was gonna cause his demise BUT that is now the spot he is using for his external pip work. Sooooo…. it seems all of them are progressing quite nicely now, so far 🤞

and @Miss Lydia!!!! We have a baby! This is who i’ve been calling Wiggles hence the insanity of non-stop activity inside the shell since practically the beginning. She/he hasn’t stopped LOUDLY quacking since we scooped her out of the incubator, mostly bc how dare one of us not hold her lol. She/he hatched sometime between 530-830am this morn ❤️. I am helping the other two bc literally not a single bit of progress for either since Sunday, both still very much alive, I think they are “stuck” though.

So sweet that picture with the little human [yours?] holding that tiny duckling ♥️

Congrats and hope the other 2 hatch with your help and no problems.
He’s my grandson ❤️. I scooped him up from his Mom & Dad on Monday with the intention of him being here so he could experience the hatch. Baby #2 hatched on a towel in grandsons lap (after I assisted a bit)! He had a pretty dry membrane & “outer” (?) membrane 😢 so i’m glad I decided to intervene. The big egg which we suspected might be twins was not twins.
things about him: 1. No way poor guy was gonna hatch on his own bc he is SO big & was practically wrapped around himself. 2. he has a pink growth on his underside? Wonder if maybe he absorbed the twin early on? is that possible? 3. He’s not doing well at all. I put him back in the incubator immediately after clearing enough shell etc to allow for him to untangle himself a little.
He’s been breathing, & twitching/stretching. but hasn’t opened his eyes again & is still lying in the fetal position. 4. He definitely became “shrink wrapped”, with quite dry membrane, at some point. Mostly from about chest down so guessing I probably caused the shrink wrapping. I need to check on him again, it’s been an hour or so. I shall keep you posted!! 🐣❤️

Is the yolk completely absorbed in the big one? how is it doing?
i’m pretty certain it was. Everything was so dry inside the egg other than a small amount of mucous looking stuff at the bottom of the shell. He was looking a little bit better. Last I checked on him, he was wiggling around a little bit more still has his eyes closed. I had to run an errand and I am on my way back home now to check on him again I feel sick to my stomach, but I’m trying to remain objective and not let emotions get the best of me

Anytime we step in and help it takes them longer to recover but many do so hopefully you find him perking up some.
ok, that’s reassuring to know for sure. I am currently giving him “kangaroo care” right now lol he’s not getting dry at all so I took him out of incubator, wrapped him in a towel & have him snuggled up on my diaphragm. He’s talking a good amount, especially if I move to much (lol).
He managed to remove the bottom shell from his back. When I checked him over before taking him out of the incubator I noticed the little mucus “ball” is still kind of attached to him via a string of mucus string. I did not try to remove it, I just left all of it attached. Is that ok?
