2 1/2 week old lavender orpington / roo?

Okay here are the pics. Please forgive the pen in the way a lot. I’m not the best chick pic taker. I have Flower hens that are very dark too and a few were almost as dark as the Orpingtons. The Orpingtons have the black legs and feet. I am posting 8 to ten day old baby pics and up. Some Three to six weeks old pics and some about 17 weeks. The three weeks pics they have started to fly a bit and perch on the radiant heat source which is definitely the way to go if anyone needs to know. Much more of a headache reliever than a heat lamp source of heat for them. I took it out at five weeks but they didn’t need it before that they were just spoiled. We had a cold spring for MS. Then we just went right into blistering heat after flooding rains. I think I have them in sequential order if that’s the correct word. I couldn’t find my correct word today either. Brain fart.

I think yours might be a cockerel. I have two LO, and attached pictures when they were 4 weeks old.

The comb is kind of tricky because some pullets develop their combs much sooner, however I’m noticing that yours has wattles coming in already, so I’m guessing a little handsome roo roo!

Fingers crossed for a bit longer. even my white leghorn pullets didnt have this much comb at 2 weeks. And they end up with much larger combs than orpingtons.

Pardon I was just curious if they did that because of that or because of the wrong sex of the chick possibly? The new chicks look a lot like my Black lavender splits. Did you look at those pictures I sent over? Did they help at all?

3 week old photos yesterday. Im %100 sure he is a baby roo at this point. He gets bigger and bigger by the day. His little comb and wattles are very pink in color. And he already had the attitude to go with it.

No replacements or refunds until the chickens are at least 10 weeks of age.
so no, i just ordered a second batch since i was already sure that two of these were boys. Glad i did. Because they are only 2 weeks apart i age so everyone is able to brood together and doing great.

He well all are getting more handsome by the day. Sometimes I wish I could get a rooster so I could get a lavender Orpington rooster or a SFH rooster because I have those and would love to raise one or the other. My girls aren getting to the age now that they need some bossing around sometimes but since they don’t free range I don’t think it would be fair to keep the rooster and them all cooped up together all the time. I might have problems. I have a large run for only nine hens but I wouldn’t want to mess that up. I have a good setup for them really good and don’t want to do bad chicken math and screw it up for all of them and then cause fights, health problems, etc. To my knowledge except for my one lead pullet having some problems with the extreme heat back in the dead of summer this year we haven’t had any health issues. If they have I had been unaware. They all suffered with it with 110+ heat indices on several days in July and August with nights where they roost so close together - And STILL do at 20 weeks. I can’t believe they get so close together in the roost boards in that kind of heat. It’s like they want to be inside one another’s wings. I tell ya for big girls now they are something else about that. I just don’t get it. I think they almost suffocated my one hen for sure. Maybe they were secretly trying too! Lol! One never knows. She is the pullet in charge. She goes in the coop first, up on the roost first, eats first, and comes out in the mornings from the coop usually first also. She is so nosy and she follows me everywhere around the coop and run when I am working out there to stay up on what I am doing. She is smart too. All my SFH are the smart ones in the flock and the leaders for sure. They just aren’t the biggest eaters. Those are the other six. The Orpingtons and the Legbars are the eaters with the Orpingtons getting the piglet awards first and the Legbars coming in second but one of my Legbars stays right with them. She has a plume and she looks like a mad hatter eating psycho chicken. She packs it in from morning to night and is always the last hen in the coop but my Orpingtons are the next to last in and the last ones to fly up and roost. Don’t know what’s up with that. Do y’all have any insight on that? If you have a mixed flock with your Orpingtons who do they lead or follow with pecking order and roosting?
