2 1/2 week old lavender orpington / roo?

This was ordered as a pullet from the hatchery. But at 2 1/2 weeks old is looking very much like a boy. I have been suspicious since the day they arrived this one was huge! With legs much larger. And its comb seems a little bigger each day. View attachment 2355121View attachment 2355122
We need @JadeFarms to way in. I believe that’s his name. I think he’s a he. Pardon if I am in error. However, I think he has many lavender birds and lavender Orpingtons.

I believe she should wait like 2 more weeks. And that bird looks older that 2 1/2 weeks. But she says it isn’t. And thanks for the tag.
You are so welcome. I knew you would have some expertise where the lavenders were concerned for sure and I am glad to know that you were actually thinking what I was thinking but didn’t write for once. I just knew from my girls that her bird looked awfully older than mine did at 21/2 weeks also. I just wasn’t going to say it for fear of an argument either. Who knows where she got the chick or the eggs. I couldn’t even say it remember. Lol!

To me, the amount of feathering looks about right for being 2 1/2 weeks old.

Maybe there's a difference in brooder setup--chicks grow their feathers faster in some conditions than others. (Except for the chicks that just grow their feathers terribly slowly no matter how you brood them, clearly not the case here.)

As for the showy comb, I just don't know about that.
