2-3 week old chick pooing blood...

Thats how my roo chick was im telling you do the home remidies for this condition an get medicated feed for youll end up with dead chicks.

Far be it from me to over-ride the advice of a vet, and it's also possible you've misunderstood the vet, but treating possible cocciciosis with Corid is definitely not "pumping the little chick with meds." Corid is not an antibiotic, and it does nothing more than block the absorption of riboflavin.

It does absolutely no harm to treat for coccidiosis even if no coccidia are present. It is also possible to know for sure if coccidia are in this chick's intestines by performing a fecal float test, something every vet can, or should be able to, do easily. Gather some poop and have the vet do the test. Then you'll both know what you're dealing with.

To take a wait and see attitude is very risky if coccidiosis is in this chick. If one chick has it, all the chicks have it. You could risk losing them all.

I would mix up some Corid in the drinking water, and treat all the chicks asap!

I would go ahead and treat, not trying to scare you but by the time they're lethargic it's often too late.
The vet said that it could be an ulceration. I will see how he goes overnight and if I see more blood or he becomes lethargic then I will go ahead and treat. Thank you for the advice!

I do about a teaspoon an mix into a cup like this. (I only have two chick) and used this dropper to help them drink it. Every couple hours i gave him this an regular water. You want to get apple cider vinager it helps kill an protect the gutt. An if your not sure about the feed lool at the bag heres mine

Picture would help, shedding of intestinal lining does strike a fear of "blood" in the stool but as azygous stated, Corid won't "hurt" and medicated chick starter helps as does ACV with the mother in their water. I always put ACV unfiltered in my chicks water (1T/gal) and ferment feeding. Keep us posted

Just to be clear I am not having a wait and see attitude. I am simply doing what my vet has told me to do. I appreciate all your advice and I will be getting some treatment tomorrow if need be. I have inspected the chicks poo since I saw the blood and there has been no sign of anymore since.

Where would I find medicated chick starter? Is most chick starters medicated? As said above I bought a bag of chick starter from my local feed store but am unsure whether it's medicated as all it says is ''Chick Starter''.
Also, I got rid of the poo and he hasn't done any since.

Another question,
if my chicks were with their mother, how does she stop anything like this happening with them? Why do human-raised chicks need medicated chick starter pellets?

And green tea! I almost for got if you have any make a cup an water it down i have small chick feeders so i just filled it half tea an water. I wish i had a pic of my chicks poo thw night before one dead. But the cause of death was definitely. Coccidiosis it was runny wet bloody poop with a little white in it. But please try what ive suggested an research. This hqppened to me last week and it was upsetting but my other two are as happy an health as can be an pooped normal after yhe first 48hrs of remidies an thw medicates feed.

We know, we're just trying to help especially the ones of us that have delt with it and know how quickly things can go downhill. It won't do any harm at all to treat the babies, if anything it'll give you peace of mind. I really hope that isn't your issue, but better safe than sorry right? We just worry lol! :)
