2.5 Month old Ameraucanas - Gender?

Last year i bought 1 roo and 2 hens from paul smith that are blue wheatons and i have hatched out lots. Paul Smith birds are very good quality and usually win something. i also have some black and blue wayne meridith chicks around the age of yours but somewhat older and they were hard to tell on combs at first but at 4 months you should be able to distinguish male and female. Meanwhile watch for combs and faces to be redder, sickles coming in, hackles, saddles feathers, and spurs. ours are coming up on 3 months and they are easy to tell apart. pic #1 - EB (eager beaver) wheaton ameraucana roo pic 2 - blue ameraucana hen 3 months

No definately not araucanas, just birds that have had their tail feathers pulled by other birds or are going through molting, but they are ameraucanas and not araucanas. Many people confuse them but they are very different. I know Paul Smith personaly and he does not believe in raising anything that is not purebred and he would never sell one. This pic a REAL aruacana roo.

Agree. #6 could go either way, but I'm leaning towards pullet.

I've learned after sexing a bunch of Ameraucana's and Amerauana crosses (olive eggers) to look at their tails too.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I hope I remember to come back and update this when it becomes clear! If the three rows thing works that would be great!

What pretty birds you all have. I am going to need to expand from blue and black I think.

I am hoping for 2 Roos and a bunch of pullets btw

My maran eggs are hatching today that are intended to breed with one of these Roos for some olive eggers. The other roo is to trade for some new blood to breed back to the pullets.
