2 chickens attacked by raccon this morning, saved them both.

Very sorry about your loss. That space of a few days when they're still around after an attack but in shock is tough. I've only had one chicken make it out of shock like that (my EE hen, who has actually made it through three different attacks). The rest we just made comfortable before they passed.

Yes. It always seems to be the same hen who always survives shock. I had 1 buff sussex called herman that survived 5 attacks somehow going into shock only twice. She is at the top of the pecking order above some of the roos iin fact.
 
He's a female rooster!!!! Funny thing is the highest in the pecking order never pecks!

And you are right, the toughest thing is to not know if they are suffering. In the future I'm not saying anything if I think they're not going to make it I am going to walk into the woods and cull.

Those 2 days were endless.
