2 Eggs in 1 Day!

It just doesn't seem like there's room for 2 shelled eggs in there:

Not without deforming both eggs. Only one egg can fit into the shell gland, and then it's a long process to finish the egg. I can see how a chicken could lay 2 in 1 day, if 1 or both are soft shelled or rubber eggs, because neither spent enough time in the shell gland. But the problem with that theory is, the ovaries don't release another yolk ovum until after an egg is layed. Double yolkers drop 2 yolks at the same time, resulting in 1 egg. If they dropped hours apart, once the second yolk reached the shell gland it would probably cause an egg within an egg type scenario, but not 2 seperate eggs.

That's ok, it's all good.
I've had hens to steal and hide eggs when locked in a coop also. They would hide eggs belonging to other hens down under the hay and cover them. I've even caught them carrying eggs they've stole under their wing. But it was always broodys I caught doing that kind of stuff. If you don't get an egg one day, double check the coop in case they're hiding it or they may bring it out the next day and punk you!

I know that you guys aren’t saying that I’m lying. Sorry if some of my posts came across as defensive.
:hugs
I believe you. The record for the number of eggs a chicken can lay in one day is 7. The record for the most eggs laid by a chicken in one year is 371. On rare occasions some chickens just outdo themselves and lay a lot.

My girl is only 8 months old.
Her first egg was a double yolker!
Then next month it was all normal.
Then she layed a shell less egg (we boosted calcium).
Next 2 months all good and normal.
Then she layed 2 eggs in one day- 1 a double yolker that was normal(For a double yolker) and the second a yolkless, extremely deformed Fairy egg.

Now shes normal- no artificial light at all.
New layers have to get used to the cycle!

Idk Why I didn't post about these. Probably because I've read about them.

For the record, over the eleven years I've been keeping chickens, I've had four hens lay two eggs in one 24 hour period, usually hours apart. Three hens had a shell-less egg closely follow the first egg which was normal, and they all had some degree of discomfort until they passed the soft egg. The fourth hen laid two perfect eggs in one day during her first couple months following point of lay.
