2008 Archery Doe...PIC!

Ewesheep:
You could process it yourself or you could take it to a processor depending on your state you may find one that does it right out of their home and cheap.

All you need is a sharp knife and some freezer paper and tape or a home vac. sealer. Oh and a grinder but you can get those pretty cheap at Cabelas or LL Bean.

nice job Sam,
So much better than here where the deer have gotten on to the local airports runway so now there employees are going out with night vision and killing them and not harvesting the meat.
In this economy I'm thinking of taking up hunting myself and I love venison but only had it once.
Enjoy the roast!! BTW, how did you season it?

You mean, you don't save the neck (great crock pot roasts) and the leg shanks (more crock meat)? I know you just forgot to mention the back straps, right?

We turn the shoulders mostly into burger and stew meat.

My DH got a big doe last night, he was very pleased, said it didn't go even 100 yards. He brought me home the heart to clean and freeze (have a great recipe for that). He's giving the doe to a neighbor who is on disability and can't work.

(Edited for a small error.)

Nah, that buck is a minimum year and half. Fawns only have buttons. Unless they grow 'em weird in Utah.

Ewesheep- I'm about an hour and a half away from you. My DH, SIL and DD are all avid hunters. Our bow season opened OCt 1 but it's been way to hot here. We cut the meat off the bone, take off the tenderloins (back strap) and roasts. We then take the rest to the local meat processor where we have Slim Jims made and summer sausage and bologna made with the left over meat. They also will put in cheese if you would like, I love pepper jack cheese in the slim jims and jalepeno in the summer sausage.
