2010 MN Swap Dates

Anyone going to swaps tomorrow? I will be at the Forest Lake Houle swap early and then heading to the Isanti swap at 9:00.I am bringing bantam chicks. They are cochin and EE crossed with silkie. I also have a very nice red bantam cochin cockerel for sale. What are you bringing????

My son and I are planning on driving up. We've never been to a poultry swap, so we'll be complete novices. Hey, you have to start somewhere, right?

Right now we have 6 week old straight run chicks. We have to see how this poultry swap thing works in case we want to get rid of some. I bet we'd be the type to just add to our collection, though.

Maybe we'll see you there! We'll be there very early. It sounds like that's the best way to see what there is to offer.

Bring your chicks along. They are bound to sell. I hope that it is warm enough for my small chicks. I will be using the handwarmers in the box to try and keep them warm. Hope to see you. I will be in the Tan stationwagon.

Are there any members that go to the New Ulm MN swaps? I am thinking about bringing some ducklings there on June 13 and just wondered if anyone thought it would be worth my while to go? I live about 4 hours away but I could bring about 100 ducklings of various breeds - Cayugas, Magpies, Anconas, Swedish, Pekins, Buffs, and maybe some Call ducklings depending how my hatching goes this next week.
I do live out of state but I am NPIP and also have a MN import permit so bringing my ducklings there will not be a problem that way. I am just wondering how these swaps go?

I will be there for a couple hours at least. I have to send out a flyer to all BCPPA members that we are having a club meeting at 10 am there too. We will be starting the planning for the fall shows. Generally there is a decent turnout in New Ulm. You usually are looking at roughly 300-500 people through the gates. Ya never know though...summer means graduation parties, trips to the lake, etc. There is a huge coliseum if you want to sell indoors. Lots of space outside too.

Thanks Amy, I will probably go just to see what goes on. I have gotten a little carried away with hatching this spring and need to drop my duckling count by about 100 or so. If there are 300 people that go through the gates, a few of them just might want some ducks.

I'll be there with lots of birds this time. I have about 15 american show racers and 3 swing pouters for pigeons. For waterfowl there will be about 10 mallard ducklings and 6 african goslings. Lots of silkies anywhere from 1 day to 1 year old. Few bantam faverolle cockerels to thin out too. I haven't made the last few swaps to hope to talk to everyone. Amy

I am getting ready to go also - I will only have ducklings ranging in age from 3 days to 3 weeks - But I have quite a few different breeds - Cayugas, Magpies, Anconas, Buffs, Pekins, Swedish, Crested Rouens, and I am going to bring over 40 call ducklings - Grays, Buffs, Blue Bib, and Black Bib. It's a long drive for me, so I hope I sell them or it will be a long ride home also. I am also going to bring hatching eggs for the different duck breeds I have.
I will probably set up outside, since it will only be myself, my partner (daughter), has a camp to go to and cannot come along
