I have Wade Jeane C1 line and Bev Davis, & Blue Splash Marans, each in their own pens. I have a question. "Where can I find an egg chart?" http://indainoaksfancyfeathers.webs.com/ I posted my website so you can see pictures of the flocks. If someone can help me out I would appreciate it.~Charm1704
I have a very small flock, one Copper Blue cockerel, two copper blue hens, and two copper black hens. They are from Bev Davis line, no new genetics introduced, three generations of my own breeding choices. They tend to be better than average layers, compared to other marans. The egg color is acceptable, but not spectacular. Egg size is large+. Great meat qualities in carcasses of both hens and roos. Roos are gentle and non agressive. Toe feathering is usually correct. Sometiems a few sprigs on middle toes. Have never had a clean legged one pop up ever from this line. Sometimes combs are a little floppy. Blue usually develops white faults over time. Right now, you can see a dab of white on the roo's left wing flights. I bet by the time they are three, they will have some in the tails and wing tips though... They occasionally go broody, but not very often and not all at once. They are pretty good utility birds with the bonus of darker eggs. I don't start shipping until usually March for best resuts.
Great Idea to start a thread for the Marans as well! If you want to add me to the list that'd be great.
I have silver cuckoos, Black Coppers, Blue Coppers, Splash Coppers, Black Birchens and Blue Birchens. You'd just have to check with me for availability. I do local pick up only at this point and am working on a website, but don't have it up yet. The birchens I am still in project phase on and am not currently selling them publicly, but do plan to in the future.
French black coppers, Bev davis x Wade Jeane currently. Just set up breeding pen of 5 hens and 2 roosters. Waiting for Grishom x Wade Jean , and Bev Davis chicks hatched last fall to grow up.
