Speaking of clipping wings; I recently had to clip several of the geese's wings, as I had one of them fly away....yes fly away and we had to go hunt her down. Silly goose. I'm glad Sebbies can't fly...

Congratulations on the eggs Shellie! We are having very warm weather for this time of year. It's supposed to be 79 or something tomorrow...yep 79 almost 80 in November.

Shellie, do you think with the warm weather we're having, I can expect to start finding eggs? Oh, and the Sebbies I'm getting from you, will the goose be old enough to lay this coming season? I'm always full of questions. ; )

Aspen sorry didnt see the question the first time. Yes you should expect eggs from the 2012 hatchlings. They may not lay as many as a 2011 or 2010 girl, but they will lay. I believe MrsMagoo sees eggs in January, and that is when most of our girls will lay also. I would be separating now or in the next couple of weeks and looking for eggs in Jan/Feb.

Hey Celtic. I got my first egg from my Africans 2 days ago and my second, in the nest this time, today. I was very excited.

As first time layers, do geese have to kind of work out the kinks to get to normal egg size like chickens and ducks?
I'm wondering if I should leave them and see if she wants to set. We are having unseasonably warm weather this week. The average here at this time of year is highs in the 50's. I have muscovy ducklings hatching as we speak but I don't know if I should let the geese go since then it would be January babies.

that is a personal choice to let the eggs stay and see if she will sit. She will keep laying as long as you collect though. So you could collect until 30 days out on weather you dont mind having goslings hatching into.
