2013 Chicks Picked Out!

the other day I came on this thread and said I was getting 1 Speckled Sussex and 2 Easter Eggers and 5 Swedish Flower Hens. Well I went on Mc Murray and I saw that they have Dorkings which I have wanted for awhile and I ended up ordering a 15 chick Rainbow Layer assortment and two Dorking chicks :) They are Due the week of 5/13. So excited! I hope there are several EEs in the mix and a SS. I am still getting the flower hens. Chicken math!!!!

I am starting some new flocks for my farm, so I am ordering Silver Laced Polish, Dominiques, and Turkens. I have eggs coming for Cuckoo Marans and Lemon Orpingtons, and I have already established flocks of Speckled Sussex, Giant Black and Blue Cochins, my Blue Frizzle boy with his white Silkie and white Cochin girlfriends, my Silver Seabright pair, and a whole flock of assorted Indian Runner Ducks.

Not to mention my single white Pekin hen, who will be running around the pasture with the goats and some mixed barnyard ducks, just because their eggs are so yum!

I will not admit I have too many. I enjoy denial way too much. :D

Where did you find Lemon Orpingtons??

What about Cochin? Same lacing, more friendly! I had a pair of SLW, I also rehomed mine. Very flighty and skittish. Even though I raised them from day old chicks, they wanted no part of us.
I actually have a cochin bantam ordered for June along with other bantams. I will see if Meyer has any LF cochins for my April order. Thanks for the idea.

Ok BYCer's, here's a nother issue! I found more breeds I like: Salmon Faverolle, Cuckoo Marans, Columbian Wyandotte, And Buff Brahma! I'm still deciding on the Buff Brahma, because it does mature slowly. Can anyone tell me how many months is an estimate on how old this breed is when it gives me the first egg? Thanks!
