2014 Hatchery Chick Orders

I'm In SW FL and I buy fresh eggs from various sellers on CL I really do not think the egg police pays much attention to backyard breeders.
I have orders for a variety of chicks from Ideal, MM and Sandhill. I'm expecting them in April.
Except for Sandhill which will be straight run, I ordered all pullets because I am expecting some of them to be male. I honestly love roosters and their crowing is music to my ears! I live in the country and nearly everyone has roosters, so no complaints.
5 in the morning the air is filled with roosters crowing.
With my luck, I'd be the only one arrested for selling eggs and my face would be plastered on the news, lol!!!

I actually like to hear roosters crow too.

Well i called the Dept of AG and yelled at them. I asked the customer service chick if it even made any sense to her. its just to keep corporations in business. Here is what i include with my egg order now:

These eggs are produced daily from my small flock of hens. Our hens are fed home cooked food and veggies daily and are allowed to free range every day. You will find that our eggs have a brighter yolk and are much better in taste. The store-bought version is a sick pale comparison to what eggs should taste like. Research has proven that hens that are treated with respect and allowed to live like chickens were meant to produce eggs that are higher in beneficial nutrients. With all of that said, the Florida Department of Agriculture does not allow small farmers to sell farm goods without inspections and fees. Therefore these eggs are not for human consumption. We do not even wash our eggs after they are laid because there is a protective coating on the eggs that keeps bacteria out as eggs shells are porous. Please wash them before use. Please write your legislator to tell them to get out of the pockets of backyard farmers. Lets all go back to common sense.

I'm getting my first flock of 5 this year. I bought them through My Pet Chicken and they'll be hatching on April 7. I got all bantams: 2 EE, 1 Buff Silkie, 1 Buff Brahma, and 1 Barred Plymouth. I suppose that since MPC drop ships from Meyer Hatchery, which is in Ohio, I shouldn't have to wait too long on shipping since I live in Cincinnati, OH. I absolutely cannot wait! I'm so excited (or to be punny, EGGcited)!!

Yeah but we don't have to accept it. I think most people just don't realize what's really happening because it's all under the guise go our laws are good for you and in your best interest ..but they are not.
