I had terrible experience with Meyer and we are 2 states away. It's hard to know when to blame the post office and when to blame the hatchery, but I definitely won't order from them again after 3 bad experiences.

I have had the best luck with Cackle.. If you call they are friendly fast and helpful, last year I ordered 100 fry pan special chicks and 3 days later they showed up at the post office all 100 alive, a week later I still had 100 living chicks, so I support cackle and prolly wont switch! cant decide what to order this year, maybe some silkies, polish, and for sure will order amarucana..
what kind is it? I am going up to the shed soon to see how they did over night, but I know the third faverolle will be dead. It just laid there like the other two that died did.Well, I lost one of my chicks last night. Another may or may not be becoming weak (hoping not). We'll see how it goes. The one thing I hate most about mail order chicks is cleaning the pasty butts...![]()

They are! There is one or two small ones and I am kind of worried about them because the bigger ones run into them and they sometimes get run over, but they are eating and drinking so that is a good sign! I am thinking ordering from cackle isn't a good thing for us because it is four states over and too long of a trip. I think I am going to pick some chicks up from my local tsc when they get them in and add them in with the bunch I have now. I can't believe I am saying this, but I hope I actually get a rooster. I want one so I can hatch some out next year instead of having to buy them. The only rooster I have now is a banty and I don't want anymore of them running around. It was one of the yellow chicks. Breed? Uh.... Either a Delaware or Indian River. Hope the rest of yours are doing ok.
