2015 breeding season

Got another egg, this one was from a pen with 7 hens and one two year old boy.

I have ben getting five eggs every other day. I will be setting my second clutch tonight either in the incubator or under a couple of broody chickens. We have two large hens I think should cover six or seven eggs each. I put an add on FB and have a few people on the waiting list, but I want to make sure the girls are fertile before I start shipping.

Could a peahen act like she is going to lay an egg even if she isn't really going to lay? Or it will mean she has an egg stick inside her?

One of my opal sp hens was walking like she is going to lay, with her wings dropped(she still didn't lay this season), but she didn't lay any egg, its 8:45 pm here now, and usually they don't lay after 7:30 pm.

How long has she been looking like this? I have had them look this way for several days before actually laying an egg.

Well I definitely need to get that rat poison DylansMom said she is using. I saw 2 rats a few days ago and I got a peafowl egg yesterday so I put it in the coffee can but forgot to take it home so today I found the coffee can tipped over with just a few fragments of egg shell on the ground. I figure the rats found it.

Today I got another egg and I think I have at least 3 of the 4 peahens laying right now. I have two eggs here so once I get some more I might as well start incubating them.

Here is one of the rascals to the right. They got within maybe 10ft of me.

After i used new feeders to all my peafowls pens which are off the ground the rats start to look for feed outside the pens which means the cats are waiting for them outside

I can see they are hungry, i saw 4 of them in the same time in one pen and they weren't scared of me, hopefully a few more weeks and the cats will finish their mission.

Ok because I've had the same thing with my peahen. I watched her tail bob a few times which is what my last peahen would do before an egg would drop but my peahen right now hasn't laid an egg. I hope she is going to lay this weekend that way I will be home when she lays her first egg.
