2015 breeding season

Thanks.

I am amazed at these two sisters in our group that just share everything with us, and once one even broke into tears but felt better after sharing. It amazes me how different people are. I don't like to cry in front of people and I don't really like sharing my life with anyone except those really close to me. I understand how sharing can help some, but it just doesn't work for me as I am normally a quiet person. My idea of feeling better is spending some time alone to just reflect on things and appreciate the little things.

Birdrain - I put in the gossip point to refer to frenchblackcopper's situation. I doubt I get gossiped about for having peafowl since I don't mention it much and I don't talk to many people although gossip never really comes back around to me so who knows? I don't really care what people say. From an early age I dealt with people being mean and gossiping about me (not for birds but for being weird) and eventually as I got older I got to the point where I just didn't let it bother me anymore.

Is anyone going to add a new variety to their flock this breeding season? I hope to get some green peachicks with Zaz.

I'm hoping to get Whites but not sure how old they will be. The lady I'm getting them from says they will be at least 6 months that way she can sex them and only for $40 each! If the price stays the same I might go for adults. She says all of her birds are friendly and tame.

When are you planning on getting them? Whites are nice. I especially love it when a white peacock displays. Whites aren't my favorite variety but they definitely have an ethereal look that has always been magical to me. One of the reasons I fell in love with peafowl and wanted them was when I saw a white peacock standing on a balcony at the zoo preening his train. He was glowing in the light coming through the trees. It was so pretty!

Between March and May. I need to get a pen built for them then I can get them. Which that will be under construction soon.

New varieties this season? I will have my first pens of White,Peach,India Blue black shoulder white eye,Hopefully Violettas,. I have so many Opal hens I may utilize Thang to try and get some good Opal pieds. I have extra Bronze also and may make a seperate pen with bssp hens in with a barred winged Bronze male.

Today i got the first egg for this season, it came from my opal bs sp pen, but something weird happened, the hens laid a normal pea egg, two minutes later she laid second soft egg! So two eggs in less than three minutes!

Wow that's weird. For me I just had an old friend return after 3 years of being wild. He won't let me catch him. He's very skittish. He was causing all sorts of commotion. Colbolt and Thora kept trying to chase him through the fence while, Marshmallow and Sage didn't care about him.

Hmmm, wonder if she needs more calcium or something in her diet? Or if the regular egg was stuck? Or maybe just because it was the first egg... How old is she?
