My September hatch is down to 6 viable eggs out of 10. 4 of them look really good. My rate is already pretty bad because these are pullet eggs. One was a double yolker but only one yolk fertilized and it quit about day 10. I would be happy if any of them hatch, then the Halloween hatchers will join them in the brooder. The chicks from pullet eggs are supposed to take a while to catch up in size. Two days until I know what I'm setting for this hatchalong.

I got 7 out of 10 this time. Yesterday and one hatched the day before. I went by the info Sally gave on dry incubator before day 18. The issue I had was following the LG and other instructions with too much humidity. The air sacs on this batch was so small and they did have almost a week to grow a tad larger, but not enough. I had to help ALL of them out. UHG crazy making. I'm getting to the point of being able to let the unviable ones just stay there if they can't get out......BUT it has to be something that's not my fault LOL!

Keeping detailed records for every hatch. This is only my 3rd one and 3 more are due staggered. Another thing to change. Less staggering. Wow, what a learning curve!!!!!! Two WS hens throw bad eggs with leg issues, so will NOT hatch eggs from those girls unless it's tied in with the humidity. Waiting game. This last batch I only had one WS egg and her foot is in a paddle, she's doing great so it will come off later today.

We have Silkie eggs now!!!!!!!!!!

All in all if I don't burn out on all this from the crazy hatches, we'll go back and do the ice chest bator I had planned on originally. Only this time.............I love the one Sally did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one I was going to do didn't have enough room from my drawings to hold all those eggs...............:D

Catching up on all the threads. Company today and the last two days helping chicks out have been stressful!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and my little one died the day after my last post.........Friday I think. She was a trooper and was still what appeared to be thriving when she had a seizure and that was all she wrote.

Good morning, happy Saturday and back to read everyones posts

Jay says it might. I have one of those too.
sweet thanks!

eeewwww the crack will do it, see above questions, if your not calibrated, low temps will or high temps will spoil eggs too, eggs not stored properly, not collected properly too. many variables can come into play, so I am not sure what is effecting you all with incubation.

Need to share this delightful surprise that was waiting on my front porch from a fellow BYC member, Sarasweatman. What a doll!

SWEET!!!!

We love you! I'm so glad you like them!
LOVE YOU BOTH!!!

that was a quick rundown lol, so do you think it was still too high humidity? did you check hocks? what did aircells look like at lockdown? snap some images for us at suggested candle days, images help us understand better, and you did calibrate correct? I get everyone all mixed up, sorry!

Thanks! My RA comes with Lupus. If I get one more animal to take my mind off things, I won't have any space left in my brain for any other thoughts at all- and I can open a zoo.

Best of luck to you and your son in dealing with the inflammation.

With all the hatches and yes, other critters it certainly is a great distraction. Love the way you put "space left in your brain!"

Our hatch is due the weekend of my daughter's 15th birthday and party. I'm like "I don't want a house full of teenage girls when they are hatching!" Ugh. So hard to decide what to do LOL.

we tried to calibrate all the temp/humidity gauges .all of the gauges stopped working.have to wait tell things calm down at my partners job and hospital to get more. 30 days. See picture on storage

we our on a waiting game.we want to be able to build 5 for the holidays for our son .christmas is coming thanksgiving and his birthday. I am hoping in the next few weeks the whether will be changing to cooler days and that will help and I will be out of the hospital to do more with them.

We only checked with the candler ounces it was last night because of the crack and no one hatching.humidity still gets high if to much water gets in there just enough to dampen the sponge. Or you have to get rid of the water it's a pain to do. It exposes egg to to much outside air at one time. Heat on these lock down ones seems to be ok. The air cells seemed ok last night on all but the one. They all looked fertile. But I did notices in other hatches we had good and bad the eggs moved more there where 40 put in.
