Oh, and @frmboyinthecity, here's a picture of some ayam cemani eggs that you asked for yesterday, next to a jumbo white egg laid by a leghorn. Lighting's not the best, but you can get an idea of size.

Lucky!

Thanks! Although I don't know if I need 17 more chickens. She seems to think so. So does Ginger, my other hen who might be going broody - for the first time in her life - in the nest next to her.

A Coachin has feathered legs, a bantum can also be Frizzled. They are us3eually low to the ground short backed without much of a tail but the rooster has a smallish tail compaired to other roosters.

Some of my cochins (to illustrate your descriptions):

That is a pile of juvenile lf cochins dust bathing.

A pair of bantam mille fleur cochins.
Nice pix:)ok So the following pix of Frizzle are ones I took about an hour ago. He is regrowing feathers back down his legs but he's still bare chested, bare butted and mostly still bare legged from his recent molt. Now do you think he could be a Cochin Frizzle or not?

Possibly a cochin mix, but not a purebred cochin with the sparse leg feathers and naked neck.

Frizzles have the worst molts, hope he's all refeathered soon!

I give up for now. Michael & I are out fishing so going to just kick back and enjoy it. I'll catch up later:)

Now this, folks like yourself, is the reason I love BYC!

It's the byc way. When I was first starting out & had an unreliable broody, a bycer offered me a loaner incubator. So my offer has already been paid forward. And it wasn't my idea. An amazing community, enabling chicken people, whatever u want to call it, I've been hooked ever since.

Day 6 and getting bigger. I know I candle to much. They are eggs from my own flock so I don't really care if they all hatch. If they we're shipped, or expensive I wouldn't be messing with them. I do terribly with shipped eggs, but these little eggs are tanks. They hatch no matter what. It seems like the more we care about the eggs, the harder they are to hatch.

I'm a fellow candling addict, and I've never actually hurt an egg with too much candling. I have trouble keeping my hands off, but they seemto do fine.

Day 6 ( couldn't wait another day) and I have 6/8 developing. Pretty impressive considering the travelled for five days across the country.
