2015 New York Chickenstock

What if a couple of the parents brought babysitters? Some teens might like a day away making some money watching kids...
I can bring some rope. We can tie them to a tree.

I don't mind kids. Get it.

Whatever folks want to do with their kids is fine with me. Well not if they're going to beat them of course or call them names or use abusive words.

I don't deal with parents who put their kids down. Lord knows the world will do enough of that.

Anyhow it's up the Host and Hostess. At least as far as I'm concerned.

Did you read about the woman who took down a carjacker? It was on Yahoo. They're calling her Mamma Bear

Just to be clear, as far as I'm concerned. Bring your kids. Just know if I see them near the road or trying to jump off the barn roof I will speak up. I can deal with kids. I won't discipline them of course but If I see them doing things that will hurt themselves or someone else I will speak up.

Kids are people too.

For meat birds I can get the Cornish X broilers the week before chickenstock or anytime before that along with the freedom rangers which will be a slower growing meat bird . The Broad breasted turkeys are going to be gotten the first week of May . So am taking preorders on these.

Ok will have Cornish X broilers for $2each for week old or younger if you want them older up to 4 weeks the prices go up for the amount of feed and electricity. I will have in them and are
2 weeks old $3.50each
3week old $5.50each
4weeks old $7.00 each

Freedom Rangers week old or younger $1.75 each
2 weeks old $2.75 each
3weeks old $3.75 each
4weeks old $4.75 each

Price for Broad Breasted turkeys 3-4 weeks old will be $8.50 each if you want them younger and can get them before Chickenstock when I get them the first week of May they will be $5.50 each

If you want any of these please let me know ahead of time so I order enough and I make sure to hold some for you as the Amish have already preordered 4000 of the Cornish X and I am sure that some that haven't preordered will want some so just want to make sure I have enough for everyone that's wants some

Can someone tell me what exactly a freedom ranger is ? I realize it's a meat bird, but what breeds are used to make them ? At what age are they ready to butcher ? "Nutty' will they be straight run or all roos ?

happy Valentines day y' all.

Funny story. It was my habit in times past to send out Valentines to friends and family so when my DD was engaged to her husband I sent him a Valentine too. He was surprised to get it as in the U.K. you only send them to "secret lovers". He asked her about it and wondered should he be offended.

The same happened with his parents after they were married.

For those of you who may feel bad because you're not with someone, keep in mind that Love comes in many forms and from many places is no less important because it comes from a friend or family. Don't let the media ruin the day. Hug your kids, moms, dads, or the chickens.

Don't focus on who you're important to, but that you are important to someone. And you are. After all one good thing about the internet is that it allows us to connect with other chicken crazy people near and far.

Besides tomorrow all that candy goes on sale and we can get twice as much for the same price.

Ok now lets get back to the good stuff who is bringing what for birds I don't even have to load my vehicle this year so lets get me some birds.

I will have birds for sale also but am sure I will take in more than what goes out LOL it is that chicken math again

I will be brining : Non-hatchery Australorp eggs $25 / doz
Non- hatchery Australorp chicks $5 ea straight run, will add a few extras if available

EE hatching eggs $15 / doz I have 2 pure Am roos ( a Lav, A Black ) over my green/blue/olive egg layers, About 80% of my hens have beards & muffs. All of last years hatch had both. I can add a few Maran & Welsummer eggs to the doz if wanted

Sex-Link EE hatching eggs $15/ doz My 2 Am. roos over BR hens. Roos will have light colored spot on head. I will need a few weeks notice for these, I'll have to start using food coloring.

If anybody wants to see pics of my birds, just let me know !

Can separate lists be made for food & raffle items being brought ? It's really hard to keep track of everything !!

Lock down tomorrow. I hope they all hatch, especially the Marans but I doubt it. I'll candle again tonight most of them.

I just sold two dozen EE's eggs for $10 each and I was happy. We'll see what we get here. Ee's are good layers and my Dels.

Things have picked up since I switched to 21 % protein. Keep in mind that heritage lines need higher protein, than Hybrid egg layers.

Dels are up to 4/6 and extra large eggs.

I still can not understand why the C. Rocks aren't laying. The ee's in the coop are doing okay but they'd be hybrids. Some of the eggs in the incu are EE/C rock crosses. I'd like some bigger sized EE's. Maybe eating size.

Ive done both types of meat birds and hands down...freedom rangers were the best for me.

The xcross grew as expected disgusting poop machines...never moved from the feeders and were just a bad experience;( 8 weeks start to finish

The freedom rangers were totally different..while they ate alot of food it wasnt sooo..Im going to kill you to get to the food type of bird. I also raised them on soaked goats milk grains and feed. We butchered at 8 weeks all though I would have loved to have gone another 2-4 weeks and I still think they would have been fine. At 8 weeks their feathers werent fully in like an adult so I knew they could have been raised longer. Last two weeks I kept them in smaller living area to rest the meat and add on weight. Nice birds, very sweet;( butchered out nice with full meaty bodies given their age. VERY delicious..Will do again for sure. im raising bresse this year and Freedom rangers to see the difference in growth and $...only difference is bresse take 4-5 months to grow to butcher weights.
