2015 New York Chickenstock

never mind - editing more parenting musing ... decided no one wants to discuss in an academic manner, and that leaves only emotional - which is not what I intend or enjoy.

I'm out, this is obviously not for families.
I have one 4 year old girl. As much as I would like her to sit quietly by my side all day, she just can't. She is full of boundless energy. She loves to play with Tabs two girls, Luvs 2 kids and all the others. Why don't I leave her home? Because this is a family outing for us, something we all enjoy together. At 4 she is not ready to learn details of butchering, altough she is intrigued with the bee videos on YouTube. We watch her carefully at all times, but sitting in a dog kennel would not amuse her. And she would climb out anyways lol. Why don't I hire a sitter? Because my mom is the only sitter I have and by May, she will be busy on the farm and doing yard work. (If this snow ever leaves) Some of the yard work cannot be done with child in tow.
I'll miss my BYC peeps, maybe I'll see some in NH.

Ok no one said to leave the kids at home what was said was if you are going to hire teenagers to babysit then why you pay someone to watch them there why wouldn't you just leave them with the babysitter at home. No one said anyone had to hire a babysitter what was said if their was going to be kids I do not have trampolines or swingsets my baby is 14 got rid of that stuff long ago if people wanted to bring stuff for littles to do then that was fine and if they wanted to pitch in for a bouncy house or something I don't have a problem with it being set up here but I am not going to pay for one sorry. I also said that if the kids weren't going to be with the parents then the kids needed to be watched by a group of other parents and that you guys can rotate who is doing the watching. Was not talking about the dog kennel for the 4 year old it was meant for little littles like those who are just starting to walk and can't climb figured it would be easier even if they were being watched it would be like a big playpen.

None of this is meant to be mean it is a busy road and yes it will not be in the front yard and will be back aways I am just looking out for your kids safety. Like I said when mine were little we had the backyard completely fenced in and I still watched them like a hawk maybe I am overprotective but I am also a nurse and have seen what happens when a child gets hit by a car.

Everyone is getting too offensive about this. Kids are welcome but will probably be bored if the parents don't bring stuff for them to do and Rancher has already said his wife will be watching the kids and I am sure others will not mind switching off or if you feel comfortable letting them go and just keep an eye on them that is fine I just may be overprotective I will admit it. Probably why their is no trampoline here I never allowed my kids on it seen too many broken bones come through that ER from trampoline spills.

Ok now lets get back to the good stuff who is bringing what for birds I don't even have to load my vehicle this year so lets get me some birds.

I will have birds for sale also but am sure I will take in more than what goes out LOL it is that chicken math again

Okay here is my take and opinion on the Littles discussion...

I personally will not be bringing my children. I know my son and one look at the creek and he will be in it if I turn my back for one second. He is a handful and it is just better for everyone if he stays at home. For the other kids it would be nice if there was a place for them to play together. It should be up to the parents to come up with a way to keep their children occupied. If the parents want to get together and take turns watching them while the others are elsewhere then let them figure it out. They know what is best for their kids.

(I got hit by a car when I was younger...no fun...glad to know it won't be in the front yard)

The area that will be designated for the Chickenstock will be safe and is just as far off the road as it was at Tabs if not farther I am probably overprotective like I said seen too much stuff in the ER. Now the Creek is a ways back on my property actually got to hike through some fields to get to it but I am probably overprotective on that too. When we had a pool it was completely fenced in with a water alarm so if anything hit the water when the alarm was on it would go off again I am overprotective probably and see too much in the ER and watch too many Untold stories of the ER. I can ask around and see if anyone I know has a bounce house I did check into rentals and for a small one it is $100 hubby is going to check one more place but that is pretty steep.

See if the bounce house comes with a guy to run it who has insurance for it...I would be concerned from a liability standpoint.

Okay, Im definately coming to chickenstock. Cant sit on the fence forever. I will let you know what I will have available after I hatch out some silkies and heritage reds. I may have a few mutt chicks as I do have barred rocks in with the reds as well. They make black sexlinks which I can sex at hatch. Not sure yet what I am bringing foodwise. I will be looking for raw honey. PM me if you are looking for something specific or a specific quantity.
