2015 New York Chickenstock

You are off to a nice start. Is that what you call a cattle panel???

Yes - there are 3 zip tied together. You have to bend them one at a time unless you're Superwoman

The base is a rectangle of 4x4" s and the panels slip inside. The framework - as you can see would make a master carpenter cry - but it's effective, if not pretty or symmetrical..... Total length is a tad over 12ft and width just about 7ft. I plan to put a small window in one end and a door at the other. Front & back panels will be barn board panel. The plastic will be held down by a 12ft x 1/2inch board each side screwed into the base frame and voila! a greenhouse

Cool idea and super thrifty. I was dreading putting thousands into something I know won't return that for years.

As far as I can see, the only 'ongoing' expenses would be heating in winter (if you wanted to) & replacing the plastic after a couple of years. I'm using 6mil clear plastic, so it should last 2-3 years. The amount I need is around $50.

They do sell greenhouse plastic that is much thicker. I'm just too poor for commercial grade.

You could of course use plastic panels. I intend to replace some of my metal corrugated panels with clear plastic as money allows. It just means taking one off an putting one one since they're screwed in.

Lots of good ideas and designs on BYC.
