2015 New York Chickenstock

I have a few extra chickens that could use to find new homes. If anyone is interested let me know. I will be taking any good offers or trades of some kind...Just give me an offer...

"MJ" 2 year old Silver Laced Cochin Bantam Hen. She is a good broody. Hatched some nice chicks last year with Bubba Jr. Super sweet girl


"Twin 1 & Twin 2" Black smooth sizzle hens. They are Curly's sisters. Yes that is 2 different birds.They are my "unbreakable Broodies". I was tossing them in snow banks to try to break them. After months of trying, I gave up and now they are sitting on some duck eggs that are due just before Chickenstock so they will be good to go to their new home.



If there is any interest let me know. I would be more then happy to bring them to the picnic if they are going to a new home.

Hmmm ... I like the idea of more broodies! Yes, that sounds crazy, but I love 'em. I have one bantam Cochin now, and she's a such sweetie.
When they're great mothers, yet small and don't eat alot, I don't mind keeping them "long-term", even if they don't lay frequently.
I also just hatched out a bunch of bantam Cochin/ large fowl mixes, but it'll be awhile before they're ready to raise any young.

Anything that I'll be bringing interest you for trading?

I don't know what you're plan is, but I wouldn't breed the ones from this litter together.
I was just "testing" them to see if they were ready to breed, and the doe wasn't cooperating when in with her "dad".
So I put her in with the other buck, thinking she wouldn't take to him either. Wrong! It wasn't until after that, I remembered that they were siblings!
They are adorable, though, and don't show any issues from being closely related, but just wanted to make sure you knew.

I also have some older girls that will need to be culled this year so if anyone is interested in them let me know. Barred Rocks, black copper maran, 2 blue marans There is also 2 Ameracana that I picked up at TSC that are turning out to be roos and 2 that I was told that they were Rhode Island Reds, but I'm not sure what they are. They look nothing like the other RIR chicks that I have that. I think that they are a pair, but could be both girls. One looks hen, the the other, still not sure. I don't have any good pictures of them right now, but if there is any interest in them let me know. I will try to get some good pictures of them tomorrow. I have a Lemon Blue sizzle chick too that I would be willing to part with. Still can't tell what it is, but I'm leaning towards a girl. (no good picture yet) Last but not least I have a trio of Delaware's that I got from Rancher that I may be persuaded to part with, not sure yet though Oh wait...Did I also mention that I have a few extra magpie drakes that need to find new homes. Including our Crested Blue drake "Lottie Dah" If there is any interest let me know. I would be more then happy to bring them to the picnic if they are going to a new home.

I would be open to some started LF pullets? Something Pretty? I'm trying to downsize my bantams.

I have a ton of started plants going myself..

Would be willing to throw in one of the roo's for free?

if the hens take a break from being broody long enough to lay eggs!

Any of the extra started pullets that I have I'll be bringing, so you could take your pick. Right now, they're not quite old enough to tell 100% who's female, but
by the time Chickenstock is here, it'll be hopefully easier to tell.
As for pretty, that's what I'm aiming towards in the Catskill Homesteaders; although I do usually keep the "pick of the litter", so to speak.

I also have a pure SFH - who might be a pullet, as it's a month old now & still has a small single comb. I'll now by Chickenstock, because its feathers will have grown in.
But, it's double-crested - therefore can't be used for breeding SFH. But, would make an adorable pet or very pretty egg layer!
I estimate the crest will be similar in size to a Polish, as it's already about the size of some of the adult single-crested SFH.
Because it's basically a "breeder cull" - it'd let it go for $10 (8 weeks old by then) or willing to trade for the bantam broodies. (reg $10 for a day-old pure SFH.)

After thinking over my options a little more, I would prefer one or both of the broody twins. I love my pure Cochin, but so far she's only gone broody 1x per year.
I'd prefer one that wants to raise out chicks at least 2x per year, and since they're obviously not daunted by going broody in the cold weather, the twins seem to be a good choice.

I'm interested in the SFH - I love crested birds! If LuvMyChicks doesn't want her, I would be happy to have her.

I'm interested in mint, strawberries and raspberries ..... all started - as I mess up seeds very badly !
