2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

Pics
We are brand new to raising peas. We've been raising chickens for 4 years.

We have a 1 year old ib pair from a reputable breeder. She laid 5 eggs this week and we set them under a broody chicken.

Should we get our hopes up for these first eggs?

I'd appreciate any tips you can offer.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. At just a year old it is unlikely the make is fertile. But, stranger things have happened!

Ordered some bronze white eye eggs from Louden farms and they arrived yesterday morning! Bout them under a broody hen this afternoon so wish me luck!

Good luck!!

Weight loss on the current four as of day 26:
12%
17%
11%
13%

Interestingly, 11% is the one that has pipped externally.

This weekend we have 4 due to hatch, weight loss on all 4 was right around 11.5%, as of day 26 all had pipped externally and as of 5am on day 27 one is out unassisted and another has started to unzip. 11 seems like it may be a good number for us.

Well late this morning I made my way to the incubator. Had a night of celebrating thus the late start today. To my suprise the first Pea Palace 2015 peachick is a India Blue with an opal b/s and a purple warming up in the bullpen to be 2 and 3.
