I'm so sorry. You did give her a pretty awesome life, but I know it's still difficult to lose one.My duck passed.![]()
Oh tk10 I'm sorry. It's not easy with these birds sometimes is it? I've got a broody hen I'm worried about too. Trying to keep her well as well as everything thing else is such a worry. So I went ahead and eggtopsied the remaining 2 goose eggs. 1 died some time ago, fully formed, no yolk absorbed. The other got shrink-wrapped.
Then my broody quail died. They rarely go broody, and then this one brooded herself to death. I've taken the eggs she was sitting and placed them in the incubator. No idea if or when they'll hatch. The quail was fine yesterday, maybe I should have taken her off the next to make sure she was drinking/eating. Ugh.
What beautiful goslings! I'm sure they'll be just fine with you. I guess it's a side effect of helping..but at least they are well and looked after.Unfortunately, momma was so busy protecting the eggs that were hatching under her, she wanted nothing to do with us or the goslings. Plus, it didn't help that the goslings were beginning to imprint on me. So back inside the house they went and are set up in our brooder pen for now, where they are perfectly content.
