2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Pics
Wednesday! We are cleaning and throwing things away and stressing out about everything still left to do. Lol

Egg is still going good! I saw some movement last night, I'm starting to get nervous about traveling with it though. Not sure how to hold it steady on its side in the car. Cross your fingers the incubator works fine in the car.

I've been meaning to update, things are just crazy right now.

How are your babies??? Any new pictures?!
Oh I'm pleased it's all going well! I agree with Iain about making a nest or something to keep it steady. It'll be fine...have faith!

Babies are good thanks and loving the hot weather we have here in the UK at the mo. Here's a pic of their first swim and with 'Mummy Goose',my 3 year old whom they follow EVERYWHERE!!:lau

It looks like I only have two of the five goose eggs developing. Definitely saw movement. One of the other three might be OK but not sure yet. Oh hope the two hatch.
WRV...I'm sure you'll get that egg there safe and sound. If worse comes to worse, you can always slide it down in your bra. lol but it does work! :)
Fingers crossed for those three eggs then! It's so exciting isn't it!! :fl

Final update: I moved my goose and babies outside. Her mate was SO happy to see the babies that he forgot about the goose. She promptly marched everyone back to her old nest location and her whole group set up a perimeter to protect the goslings. All is well in their world. :)
Oh Iain I'm so pleased it's worked out :D Thats wonderful news :celebrate

Oh. My. Gosh. Nannette that is adorable <3

We are all set up here. Pray that the ac adapter works tomorrow or I may well be sticking it in my bra for the ride. Lol

I am exhausted and already tired of sleeping on an air mattress but tomorrow we will drive and then the incubator goes into lock down!!!

Any idea which way to set the egg for lock down? It has a big saddle bag still on one side. Should the saddle bag face up? Down? Sideways?

I tend to position the egg on its side with the largest part of the air cell pointing up because that's usually where they pip through.
What day is the egg on? You'll know when it's internally pipping because the egg will be wiggling around and you'll hear it cheeping inside. Then it seems to be around 24 hours later it pips the shell.
Good luck with the move. Try to stay cool and calm...especially in your condition!;)

Update on eggs.
Three of the five are no longer viable.:(
But...The other two are wiggling around in there and seem to be growing nicely.
Bit worried about the incoming wether, but if the power goes out I'll fire up the parlor stove and keep the incubator under it. It stays a comfy warm temp there and they should be good. Fingers crossed we don't have to go there.
I REALLY want these babies to hatch!!!

Oh it's a shame three are no good :(
But fingers crossed for the other two! :fl
Sounds like a plan RE the parlour stove too. I hope the weather behaves itself for you. I think we all agree a power outage is one of our biggest fears when incubating!

We made it. The incubator ran like a champ for the ride. I am exhausted and frustrated and really grumpy but all things considered, we made it.

Goose egg is locked down. Humidity is only running at 50% though, if I add a damp sponge it shoots it to the 70's so I'm not sure which humidity is better. Should I leave it or should I bump it back up.

Day 26 today, so I'm expecting a hatch on Saturday (day 28)

I candled the egg before I locked it down and there was movement so I'm feeling pretty good about it. I hope this baby hatches.

Sounds fab well done!
If you're truly in lockdown then id get that humidity to the 70s. I had mine at 75 and two still struggled to get out. One has issues externally pipping the other I had to assist properly as it got stuck. I'd whack it as high as you can (maybe not higher than 80 tho;))
I'm so glad the move was successful :thumbsup

Are sebastopol geese 28 or 30 day incubators?

The internet just offers that 28-30 day range when talking about goose eggs.

Am I expecting this baby tomorrow or Monday? Lololol

Um as I understand it Heavy Weight Geese like mine were are 30 days and Light Weight Geese are 28. Sebastopol are Medium so I'd aim for them to be out day 29. Obviously all babies are different and come when THEY want ha ha (dont we know it?!!).
My Heavy Breeds started rocking at day 26. Pipped internally at day 29 and 3 were out on day 30 and the assisted was out day 31.
Hope that helps!
Good luck good luck good luck!!!
Eeek!! :clap:clap:clap
