2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Pics
If it hatches, you may want to try to get your new ones to adopt, or buy a day old duckling to brood. IMO, there is nothing worse than brooding a solo gosling in the house. It will cry nonstop unless it is with you, preferably tucked on your shoulder under your hair.

I don't think we are going to have a problem with that :(

I checked tonight when I was getting the sponge wet. No movement at all. I'm seeing a whole lot of clear space where the blood vessels are receding but no movement whatsoever.

My eldest is heartbroken. I poked a safety hole just in case I'm wrong but I've got a feeling this one isn't alive any longer.

I'm pretty bummed if that's the case because we were really hoping for this baby to make it :(

I've put it back and I'll give it another day or so but I'm almost sure my gut instinct is right on this one.

Does anyone have leads on any sebbie hatching eggs this late in the season?

Sorry to hear that. Doubt you will find eggs this late into summer, but you may get lucky. Last year, I had a buff dewlap start laying in November and I hatched a gosling on Christmas day, which I thought was impossible.

I'm glad we scooped up those two from my friend when we had the chance :(

The lady I got all of these eggs from still has eggs but I don't want to spend another $200.

oh no!!! And it was so close. I'm really sorry WRVgirl. You did your absolute best :hugs
At least you have two ready made geese to ease the disappointment for your eldest.
It's such a shame if it doesn't make it. :barnie

I'm surprised and disappointed the lady will not give you another set of eggs for cost of shipping, considering you bought two sets and only one made it to lockdown. However, since you just moved, acquired a pair of juvenile geese, and are pregnant, perhaps it is for the best. Next spring is right around the corner.

I'm sorry WRVgirl, I understand the disappointment. I still have my Sebbies and need to find a home for them SOON. I had one person who kept asking questions, talk about how excited she was to receive them, and then wound up asking for them to be donated to their heritage farm. Huge waste of my time. I'm all for donating and helping the needy, but a pair of Sebbies does not fall into that category!

I just got off the phone with the lady who sold me eggs, she's sending 6 more out to me today (I had to pay for them but oh well) of these hatch it will be the most expensive geese ever.

She said my humidity at the end was most likely too high and I drowned him, so now I feel awful.

We are going to do a dry run this batch and cross our fingers.
