2017 Groundhog Day Hatch-a-long!

Okay, I just gave in and set 16 more duck eggs (7 Welsh Harlequins and 9 Khaki Campbells)..... So now I have a total of 21 ducks in the incubator, none of which I can sell as day olds (as planned) due to bird flu restrictions. I'm going to have my work cut out soon....

It's feb. 2. The pull a groundhog out of a stump in pennsylvania . Talk to it and if he says he's sees his shadow. We get 8 more weeks of winter.

If he doesn't see shadow early spring

My broody has a baby! 3 out of 4 eggs were peeping first thing this morning but right before bed, one was already hatched Looks like a little black silkie mix. I guess time will tell who daddy is. Hopefully, there are more little fluffies under her in the morning.

Like i said it was my first time ever incubating eggs and im severely ocd!! I dont think candeling everyday can kill them, it didnt for me anyway, i think the real risk in doing that is dropping and breaking one, which i almost did a few times, when i set them on Monday i plan on only candeling on day 7 and 14 maybe just maybe the day of lockdown too, but thats it! I shall sit on my hands the rest of the time!!! Lol

OCD as in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or as in Obsessive Chicken Disorder? I am so afraid I will break an egg. Like so afraid I'm pretty sure I am thinking about it so much I'm going to end up breaking one....:/

Yep, that pretty much explains Groundhog day....I know it is a super minor holiday, and I never would have thought of this, bit as I was sitting with my planner scheduling the hatch of my chicks I realized it fell on Groundhpg day if I set them when I planned to. So I thought ''heck, let's create a hatch-a-long''. Then when RodNTN and I were chatting it came up and she said she'd help host it! So here we are. Hatch-a-long full swing and discussing the meaning of Grondhog day.

As of two hours ago, my eggs are halfway through incubation!!!!!!!!!! *Happy dance. I hope everything is going good in those little shells.

Sally, do you sell Icelandics?? If so, we need to talk.......

I have a batch (23) due to hatch in 8 days. Another setting (21) due on February 7.

It is also a great movie with Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, and Chris Elliott.
It's a comedy about a TV weatherman that goes to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania (site of the annual groundhog spring prognostication). But he wakes up every day on GH day. He even tries to kill himself but the next morning he wakes up in the same BnB and it's GH day all over again.

53 hatched out of 6.5 dozen eggs.

Lost 3.

So 50 new babies in brooder.

Could possibly be 1 more. Went to clean out incubator was tossing unhatched eggs and shells and one started chirping. He is zipping now.

It's a wellie.
