I agree and mine are used to most noises, including cars and the biggest noise is the tarpaulin when its windy, they are even used to loud music blaring but we rarely get thunder, can't remember the last time we had thunder its been so long and the trouble with fireworks is that although people go crazy with them on bonfire night and the weeks around it, same with New Years, people don't really use them around here outside of those two events, November was their first time encountering them and all has been quiet until the recent ones - there are none going off at all now - so I didn't have a way to introduce them to the fireworks.I have learned a long time ago to acclimate every animal to loud noises, fireworks, thunder, etc. As pups I would stand out there in the rain waiting for thunder while we played fetch(as long as lightning wasn't involved) I have two that have gotten more nervous as they got older(7-8). I will give them some melatonin early in the evening so they are relaxed. Did not do that last night, but we were ok. As for the chickens and ducks? They have also been acclimated--lawn mowers, blowers, weed wackers, drills, saws and now even vacuums.
I am not a fan of the debris. I worry about both ingestion and Fire.
They started the day today a bit unsettled and from about mid-morning, slept practically the whole day, whether this is anything to do with the onslaught of fireworks last night or not I don't know. This evening when I turned on my outside light (which I use so the birds can stay out longer when dark, if they want to) the bulb went and I don't have a replacement until tomorrow, so I had to put them to bed early and I worried they might not be able to sleep having been asleep the majority of the day, but they went to bed easy and settled swiftly and were asleep in moments, I really hope this isn't them coming down with illness although other than being sleepy and sleeping this much, no one is showing any signs of illness so I'm hoping it is just the unsettlement of the fireworks making them tired - really hope they aren't going to get ill
