Crowing
What a clever idea! Think I might steal your idea and do that for my girlsThey really do love them lol.
They’ll scratch around in there and sometimes dust bathe.
I put a little scratch in there for them to find each day.

What a wonderful thing your son did! And so sad for the ones that didn't make it. Breaks my heart. Not chicken related...
My son calls me this morning very early and says..Mom I'm turning into you. This makes me curious. He was on his way to work and there was a detour. As he was driving hd sees two dogs running. He is not one to normally stop but finds it weird there are two running. So he pulls into a driveway. He calls the dogs and the smaller ones growls and lunges at him. This surprisingly did not stop my son. His first thought was its dark and no one would see if this dog mauled him. Within seconds of the growl and lunge the dog changed his mind. The owner of the house came out and the dog turned into a love bug. The other dog was a female boxer--very skittish. The male pit bull knew better and kept the female close. They called animal control and it turned out that a boarding/rehab facility loaded with dogs was on fire. Bless my sons heart, he stayed put with these dogs for an hour. The pit bull went willingly, the boxer took off and another person opened their car door and she jumped right in. 30 dogs died in the fire and 25 were saved. My son fell in love with this dog--not normal for him either. He sounded so proud of himself. I said it feels good don't it? He said yes it does... I told him Welcome to my world... May all those pups rest in peace. May the firefighters that were bitten in the commotion heal and may the couple of pups that are missing be found safe.

Great news! Made me awwwwwwww when I read of the little one moving it's feet, bet it was lovely to see.Today is day 14 out of 21 days of incubation. One week left! I candled this evening once the sun went down. Both of my remaining two eggs are growing so rapidly. Both are so healthy. One of them didn’t like the candling very much and it started moving it’s little feet like crazy. Praying that lockdown and hatching go smoothly. More updates to come!
Just out of curiosity, what would be the difference between getting them from the show and getting them from a hatchery, and are there benefits from getting them from the show as opposed to getting them from a hatchery? So I am increasing the insanity and getting bantams for my kid’s 4H project. She picked phoenixes, so now we have to design an appropriate coop which is harder than it looks, since the boys’ tails can get 3 ft in length. I’m picking up some shingles off craigslist Wednesday and the chicks should be here in March from cackle. The national show is here in Colorado in April, and I am tempted to just pick up birds there rather than hatchery, but trying to find people with these birds is difficult!
Amen to that! And how lovely, unselfish and great of your son to do as he did - definitely a chip off the old block, I'd sayNot chicken related...

So tragic and so sad for the dogs and for the owner, my heart goes out to all. It's been rough for lots of rescues. These poor dogs were saved from euthansia only for this to happen. The rescue community is sticking together. The problem is that now these dogs are housed at the shelter which is now overloaded.
I drove around for a little bit looking for the two that are missing but it's so dark and lots of wooded areas.
Definitely heartbreaking. The owner of the facility lost his own dogs. He is a complete mess.
