High five for urban small scale chicken farmers My 5 will be shipped on Wednesday- 1 Silver laced wyandotte, 1 welsummer, and 3 easter eggers. I think the mystery of easter eggers is what makes it so fun! I was reading through a thread about how different colored EE chicks grew up and what coloring they ended up with- So many different possibilities!

I hope you find some answers on Charlotte Hoping it turns out to be nothing!

Thank you. We're giving her vitamin supplements and just keeping an eye on her. She is gaining weight well, so at least there is that! Congrats on your flock coming. Sounds like you got some great chicks (my BFF has a wyandotte and she is a great layer!).

Yeah, the downside being they cost a bit more because I have to go through a middle-man to get small orders. (Big hatcheries sell in big quantities)

All under 4 dollars a piece from idealpoultry. They dont have a minimum, but theyll send you a whole bunch of packing peanuts if you dont pay for extra insurance.

I paid more for mine up here. 20 chicks cost me $110 for day olds and I have to drive 2 hours to get them and 2 hours back! LOL and my organic food it $35 a bag.

25 meat birds were 2.50 each plus $8 delivery. (about $65 i think after tax).

Anyways, I don't care, that's pretty cheap when I think of all the fun theyre gonna be- and all those eggs!!!! Organic eggs are $6-7 a dozen here at the store. My birds are giving me almost 3 dozen a week right now, so Im happy.

I'm also a newbie- so new in fact that I don't yet have a single chicken. Brooder is almost ready, chicks will arrive locally on or around 2/19, so I'll have my 3 then. We have an old coop, used by previous owners of the property, that just needs a good clean out, which I'll be doing soon. Can't wait, though, to get chickmerized!

Update on my chicks:
One of my Splash Ameraucana has developed a slight cross beak. MPC said that a rough hatch is to blame. They refunded my money for her though. I almost love her more because she’s a little different.
