@ChooksNQuilts Welcome! I’m so jealous that you have a silkie and naked necks I’m obsessed with both! Have you seen showgirl chickens? I’ve been researching a bit on them as my next coop will be only for silkies and showgirls. Post lots of pictures for me, I’d love to gawk at your babies!
:frow Oh hi PNW! I will post as many pics as I can lol.
Yes I have seen Showgirls and they are so neat!
I wasn’t sure about getting a Silkie because we do get snow here but other people don’t seem to have a problem so we’ll see.
I have fallen in love with little Peanut!
Unfortunately they are all terrified of me.:hit
I really wanted to find a way to make a brooder that would allow me to reach for them from the side instead of down on them.
I won’t name the NN until we know which are females. I don’t want to get attached to them as the plan is to put any males in the freezer.
I love that you’re going to have a coop just for Silkies and showgirls! That’s so fun!
I have wanted bantam Cochins for a long time.
I do want to have a little flock of them.
Peanut is sort of a happy accident :clap

I can’t get enough of them. They just make me hysterically laugh. I need a coop just for them as I don’t think you can have enough silkies. They don’t roost like other chickens, they just pile up and cuddle. :gig My cousin lives in AK and has an indoor silkie thst she sends me photos of. I’ve fallen in love from afar.

My Silkies didn’t get the memo - most of them roosted. One night I went out to lock up and was surprised to see several of them roosting up with the standards. Before I knew it, most of them were up there. A couple of them used the low roost I’d put in, and couple of other holdouts snuggled down on the floor. They’d all go out and play in the snow.
