My Meyer meal maker is a white chick. We think maybe leghorn but seems way to calm for that SO far. There were no white leghorn available at my time of purchase... but who knows, maybe they ended up with extras hatching. I even wanted to order a white leghorn because our last was just so much fun to have around. So that would be really cool! Plus their laying would make the meal maker deal much more affordable on me than my dual purpose birds. Which I don't THINK they would send as a meal maker. Let's be honest producing 1 dozen eggs cost me about $2.50... meaning I could afford to buy the extra chicks myself without the added responsibility... But I always donate eggs anyways.

And then I thought oh maybe I can count the passed chick as the meal maker and not worry about it. But I KNOW it wasn't the meal maker that didn't make it... and in my heart I am honest to the core. I have been blessed and don't need to worry about not being reimbursed for 1 chick past it's agreed upon time frame. So I will be much more content keeping my end of the bargain!

Cackle seems to add two to any order of 16. That is what happened to me last time. I ordered 16 New Hamps and got 18.

I ordered from chickensforbackyards.com but I think they're a middle man for cackle.... Someone else mentioned they ship from Missouri as well. If I got 2 extra I might have to rehome them... I'm already getting one more than I'm allowed 'just in case'
