2019 Emu Hatch-A-Long

Pics
They wont even stay on one side without support and the egg looks like it is standing on one end. Today is day 50. Is it ok to stop now? They are alive. No whistle yet but it is loud here too so.

I probably would. You had the temp at 97.5, right?

What I mean is when I try to turn them they roll back to the comfy side all om their own. I cant get them to stay unless I put something to hold them in place. It is deff more heavy on the bottom than the top.

Yeah, I just let mine roll to whatever side they wanted to be on at the end and then stopped turning.

Yes 97.5 Also myEmy food is not here yet. Can I mix rabbit ad chick or is it layer till it gets here? Mazuri is on the way.

They don't tend to want to eat for the first three or four days after hatch anyway, so your Mazuri might get to you before then. If it doesn't, I'd actually do something like all flock pellets until it arrives. More niacin, much better for their leg development. My emu feed has higher niacin than any other feed I have.

Day 54 ...I think, nothing. 54/55 isn't a crazy number overdue. Stopped turning at 49 I think, some of the eggs have taken on a dramatic tilt since then. Not sure what that's about. Spent a good 15mins staring at the eggs, no wiggle. No matter what going to let them go till 60. Still turning the other ten eggs so there is still hope in the other batch. unrelated to birds but my garlic patch is pushing up green sprouts so that project was a complete failure.

but my garlic patch is pushing up green sprouts so that project was a complete failure.
That's what they are supposed to be doing now....why call it a failure?
Oh, maybe you were trying to get rid of the garlic?
Know nothin' 'bout hatching Emus egg, but have grown garlic for a couple decades.

Day 51 and I have a pip in the smallest bullet egg. The other 2 are still wiggling but no whistle yet. I am getting worried. Hopefully I will have a baby soon. I added a tiny shot glass of water half full bc the popped baby was very dry (never happens in FL). I normally dry hatch, but I am throwing out rules and going with my gutt. I have never hatched Emu. However, I have hatched everything else over the years. This safety hole thing has me going crazy. To do it on the other two eggs or not? That is the question.
My biggest fear is suffication.

My biggest issue with safety holes is being 100% sure where the air cell is. The egg is shaped funny bc it is so big and one egg is the possible twin egg. The other one is smaller but is also shaped funny. I can't tell which way it leans and have stared at them forever. These eggs are big. The bullet egg was very easy to tell which end was the air cell because it leaned so drastically. The wait continues.
