Hope it’s okay to join in! I just put 11 Silkie eggs into lockdown this morning. 7 more will go into lockdown on Wednesday.

2 eggs in the first batch look a bit funky. The chicks seem small, and one has a very angled air cell. But there is still movement, so I went ahead and put them into lockdown. Last 2 pics are of the same egg.

Good luck, hope they hatch soon

For my Muscovy eggs it's now day 21 temps and humidity have been steady and eggs all look good we lost another one veining disappeared and it went to a blackish green color inside. So down to 9.

This is my first time trying to hatch my own hens eggs. I placed 40 eggs in the incubator and had 36 hatch. I thought that was a great hatch especially for my first time. They started hatching on May 20th one day early. Got my last one on May 24th. Four did not hatch but were fertile. don't know what happened. I have a variety of breeds which include RIR, Brown Leghorns, White leghorns, Silver and Golden laced Wyandottes, Isa Browns, and Easter eggers. My Rooster are Easter egger, RIR , Whiting True Green and Brown leghorn. Does anyone have any experience with mixed barnyard chicks? Would like to know what to expect from these little guys. Will they be hardy, lay well, and so on. I did try to wing test them to see what sex they were and if I did it right my results were not what I had expected with 12 being males and 24 being females. I guess ill find out as they grow older. Expected more of a 50/50 split. Any info is appreciated and Thanks in advance.

With the breeds you got, it sounds like you're gonna get good egg layers and many interesting color combinations. Mixes are fun, you never know how and what they'll be until they're adults!
I usually assume the pessimistic 60/40 male/female ratio and be happy with every girl I get over that. Haha! In a month you'll know more for sure.

Wing sexing isn’t going to be accurate for any of those crosses.

Joining in late! Hoping for advice. Day 21. She’s been working on hatching all day. Does the egg look smashed or is this normal?
