2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I really like the idea of a crossbow! Especially because it is silent, the duck-murderer will not know what hit.
You also do not have to worry about what is a mile or so in the direction you are shooting if you miss. Since I don't really have a place to rifle deer hunt anymore, I usually only shoot them at the range. I think my crossbow could be deadly to a hundred meters . Shooting at a coyote beyond 50 meters or a raccoon beyond 40 is taking a chance of not getting a clean shot . even though we are upset with those animals, we do not want to see them suffer

Broody ducks ducklings have hatched!
We have three.

True about the suffering but I'm pretty sure those predators don't crare a whit about how the little ducks are suffering as they are ripped apart piece by piece! I'm not sure crossbows are all that easy to shoot either! To say nothing about them being rather bulky and awkward to carry!

Amen! It was terrible to hear the little duck screaming in the woods…
The downside of crossbows are the arrows: Once it is stuck in the butt of a fox/racoon it's gone… But it is a very interesting alternative to a gun.

Not that I have noticed. I will look more closely tomorrow. I moved the electric netting to their stall today and opened the door for their first time outside. They were too scared to go out but George was happy to go in and Bill them all ferociously. I had to catch him and put him away. He was even attacking the geese which are twice his size and they were running and screaming. Hopefully time is on my side. Mini was just amused.
