A duck caught another bird?!! That's impressive. Don't give that idea to Blanca, despite her size she is able to take »flight« when there's food in the game. I opened the top half of the duck-house door today and out came Blanca Duck, 6' in the air - well the landing was kinda messy, but when greed takes her over, oh boy! - And yes i still have all four fingers at my left hand.
The mouse went down so fast, there was no time for unpleasant sights: Grab mouse by the tail, smack mouse to the ground, grab mouse's head and swallow. - 3 seconds job.
Yes it was a mind-blowing experience. I think she thought it was a butterfly or something. I was chasing this runner around before she got it down. Fortunately the little wren was able to get out when I finally caught her. Geesh, the life of ducks.

hope you had a great vacation. I just read the article twice, then opened it up on the counter as I peeled the little guys shell away from the membrane. Then I peeled open the membrane and had to kind of relax him out. He was in there, legs in the air trying to kiss his butt goodbye. He stretched out in my hand and pooped. Mineral oil would probably have been fine to use, I like to use Vaseline, or even a little antibiotic ointment will work if you have some. I remember someone using olive oil too, but I’ve never done it.
