So did you get a bigger pool? If your cardboard gets mushy and gross and you have to replace it I'd put it on the outside and have something behind it so they can't push through it. I used a bale of shavings, 5 gallon buckets, bag of their food, ammunition boxes and anything else I could find that was heavy.

They're really heavy when they're full! Haha, didn't notice the puppy pad! It is in the garage though!

Nope! No larger pool, i must build a brooder from scratch on the garage floor:
A Layer of Styrofoam for insulation from the cold concrete floor, cardboard walls around that and a large tarp folded inside and covered with straw. This way when the ducklings have messed it all up, i can relocate them to their patio brooder, grab all four corners of the tarp and move all garbage at once to the compost bin.
They will get their MHC, an additional ceramic heat bulb (no teflon, its safe!) and a lamp, controlled by a timer so they will have a day and night rhythm.
