2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I just buried La Shi. Dead in the coop. Still warm and dried saliva on her head and neck. Suspect strangled by a snake. Guess I don't have to worry about drake to hen ratio. Heartbroken more than since Mini.
Oh no! :hit Damn snakes! - You and your ducks are really in a bad spot! And there is so little that you can do to keep snakes out, they fit through the tiniest cracks.

@WannaBeHillBilly That is GREAT! Hopefully you will not have to go through this again.
Thank you very much for that great wish! - But you know:
When the last cabbie was replaced by an autonomous car, the last factory worker was substituted by a semi-intelligent robot and the last sailors were kicked off their now fully-automated shipping vessels - the companies will realize that bankrupt customers can't buy their products.
Twenty years ago, being a Database administrator meant to have safe and well paid job, now we have the self-maintaining, self-optimizing Database with artificial intelligence and the DBAs are all gone.
I pity my kids…

I had not paid attention to it when it was progressing but looking back on what you said is so true. Our kids are going to have to work smarter just to stay up with the front of the pack.

Just digest some numbers:

Walmart, 2.2 million employees worldwide (2018) - Revenue $514.4 billion (2019)
Amazon, 647,500 employees worldwide (2018) - Revenue $232.887 billion (2018)

=> Amazon makes ½ of Walmart's revenue with ¼ of employees!
And Amazon is a company that is not tailored for revenue but for aggressive growth.

When the mechanical loom was invented, it did put some weavers out of their jobs, but the resulting availability of affordable fabrics triggered an avalanche of new jobs in the new clothing industry.
Those new developments will just replace more and more jobs, in all levels of qualification with creating very few new types of jobs.
