I have already reserved Chanteclerc Chicks, from the time I read about them I knew I wanted them. The rest depending on what is available at the place I am going to it is called “la basse-cour de Manon fortin”. Should be interesting. I am hoping for 12 chicks.

nice breed! I heard they make great winter layers.

Hey! How are you doing??? Haven't seen you posting in awhile...
I am well... I had to condense my threads.. it was getting too much.. I pretty much stay on Ribh’s.. BYBobs.. Kristen’s.. and a kitty thread.... and now this one :) ... good to see Toasted is still kickin! And the chicks are adorable!! I am so tempted... but I am holding out!

nice setup!
The foxes around here have been like that all winter, I could hear them making their calls in the field at night time. Haven’t heard any in the past few weeks though.
our hens have been exhibiting broody behaviour over the past few days, starting to fill their nests with their feathers again, I might let them hatch a few Guinea eggs when the Guineas start laying.
Can’t hatch chicks because of the respiratory problem that they had at the end of last year. I’d like to get them tested to see what they really have.
might see about getting them tested in the Easter holidays. They’re doing great so far anyways.:fl

Aww... Hopefully you find out what's going on! And good on not hearing the foxes! Do the guineas actually help with alarms or are they just annoying? I had some but they were pretty mean so I rehomed them.
Thanks! The babies seem to love it. They'll go out to the barn once feathered in a bigger cage.
I wish one of my girls would go broody! I'll be checking nests for feathers soon... I want them to hatch on their own... Maybe, I'm not sure lol!

Haha! Yeah I understand the thread issue.
Yep.. he's pretty lucky :gig thanks I may have gotten too many? Is that a thing? I'm not sure lol!! But they're just so cute and I really want to be able to get ppl their eggs in a more timely manner.

Morning! We woke to rain :hit so much for my plan of rearranging the stalls or making nesting boxes today! The good thing is the girls are loving it since it gets the crickets hopping so they have dinner on the go? :gig

Same here! It rained all day, Didn’t get anything done outside.

Mine are Great alarms when there’s predators around. They can be mean to the chickens during their breeding season but mine tend to venture off into the fields at that time of the year. :)

he’s a very friendly rooster, very alert, he’s probably the smartest of the four.
He loves scrambled egg and bananas as a treat and his best bud in the flock is probably Luna... his girlfriend :p

This is Zeus, he’s a Blue Buff Columbian Brahma rooster.
He’s from my original flock of Brahmas
I got him as a hatching egg in may 2018 and hatched him under my broody RIR hen.
He’s quite a goofy one, he’s very friendly and he sometimes lets people pet him, he loves stealing the dogs food and he loves all treats, he loves food.
He’s a the father of all the blue buff columbian, lemon Pyle Brahma pullets and roosters hatched last year.
He’s also top rooster since a few days ago.
