2021 Chick Order

Out of curiosity...aren't polishes on the small side (like a bantam or silkie) or are they larger like a standard Wyandotte or Rock? They have Polish breeds (in about 6 colors) on the list of possibilities for my Rare breed assortments coming in late April and I want to be best prepared with waterers and feeders at proper heinghts if I can!

The baby chicks may be a little on the small side, but can probably use normal baby-chick feeders & waterers.

The adults should be larger than bantams but smaller than Wyandottes or Rocks.

As a rough estimate, bantams often weigh less than 2 pounds at maturity, Polish and similar light breeds have hens about 4-5 pounds, and heavy breeds like Wyandottes or Rocks about 6-8 pounds.

These are close to silkie size, but my silkies are all really large this year. Ill get some size pics when I get home of them next to a bantam and then a Minorca from the same order

Thanks, it's been a long time since I had chicks (10 years) or chickens (4 years)! More thinking of my coop for when they get big enough to go outside and have plenty of time to make adjustments once they're actually here, hoping I don't get any really small ones (though Hamburgs are also on the list and are fairly small if memory serves at all) as the ones I specifically ordered are Gold-laced Wyandotte, Delaware, and EE.

I'm also insane and ordered 15...my last flock was only 3 hens! Which is why we are taking the time to build an entirely new enclosure.

I would expect Polish and Hamburgs to be about the same size as each other.

Okay, these silkies are a bit more normal sized. The dark polish mystery... thing is in front of a partridge silkie. Scale isn't great but should help a bit

So I did lose another 2 during class. A naked neck bantam that I'm not sure about and a sebright bantam that drowned. I did not expect these sebright to be so tiny. They're smaller than my naked necks and those like the size of quail chicks

These Bresse are so chunky and hungry! If I didn't know better, if worry I got CornishX

But they showed the rest of their group the yummy green goo and the pellets which I'm sure helped cut down on losses in that group. I did move the rest of the sebright into their group since I'll be able to tell them apart anyhow and I figured ~25 chicks was less stressful to the tiny things than ~40

Also had a d'Anvers that almost had problems. He got stuck and kinked his neck. He's good now for the most part, but on watch still.

Which hatchery did they come from?

My first thought was something mottled, going by the black parts and the pale parts, but the gray isn't quite right. So now I'm inclined to go poke through the hatchery's list of breeds. I'm guessing something with black and silver, no gold, and I think no Dominant White or Blue or Splash.
