2022 Chick Order

Thinking of cancelling my second McMurrays order… Most of them I can get locally in a single shipment date. The main concern is taking the risk on the Polish being straight run. I can get the Polish April 7 and then have several more dates after that to see if I need to try for pullets again. The girls will be sad about the bantam buff Brahmas though. I can wait for next year, I’ve gone a bit overboard this year

I am positively terrible about having a coop ready Our first chicks lived in a plastic playhouse for a while lol. Still trying to finish up coop #2… Of course as soon as I needed the dumb prefab, everyone decided it was the optimal location for laying

Nothing like a new chick order to get your butt in motion and building.! DH wasn’t serious about getting a coop til I told him the order was in (it wasn’t, but he didn’t know that! I placed it a month after we had our coop bought from someone local who builds them. Still need to add more ventilation and change out the roost bar but I can do that myself. Lol)

Wait til I tell him I have banties ordered next year! I mentioned it in passing and he didn’t say no so I’m not bringing it up again until they are ordered.

This is why I have been obsessively checking to see if I can add a BCM. They are sold out the week of my order but I’m hoping there’s a cancellation!

Blue Cochin Bantam 5
Buff Brahma bantam 5
Silver Polish 2
Mystery chick

I think I’d rather get mottled Cochin bantams (local option) over the blue, it was the colour I’d originally preferred. Then I can get a blue Frizzle then too, but I’m undecided on getting them this year. If I trim down the flock this year, I’d really like to drive a few cities away for frizzled Polish or silkies. He’s got stunning colours!
