2022 Chick Order

I ended up adding 6 more to my local order…and 6 additional hatching eggs…
No one knows yet…whoops…don’t tell anyone…

2 chicks each of Faverolles, Speckled Sussex, & Sapphire Gem. The first two breeds are a bit smaller than the standard size for the breed so I caved…lol. And my aunt did say she hoped he had an extra SG or 2…so I did her a favor and made sure he did!

Then since my eggs are being shipped, I added 3 EE & 3 OE to the 6 Legbar eggs. Just in case I get a low hatch rate, of course! (watch me have 100% hatch and have to sell some!)

We can keep 31 between the 2 of us, and if I have a full hatch it will be 39. My other aunt already said she’d take a roo. So 7 extra. I have someone I can give them to if needed…but if I can sell them, maybe I can hatch again next spring! Lol

Such pretty choices!!! Smart idea to add the extra eggs too Here’s to a great hatch rate! Always better to have too many than sad lonely chickies… My mom has been hinting she’d like a few for pest control over the summer, so she’ll likely get any roos I end up with and we’ll give them away in the fall

I can’t WAIT for pest control this fall when we start closing up the garden. All my chickens are at the farm and I don’t want to stress them out by bringing them over here in the truck to clean out the raised beds (plus fencing isn’t ready yet), so I’ll be happy when I have my own backyard workers! They can eat the squash vine borer larvae, cutworms, and asparagus beetles!

I can’t WAIT for pest control this fall when we start closing up the garden. All my chickens are at the farm and I don’t want to stress them out by bringing them over here in the truck to clean out the raised beds (plus fencing isn’t ready yet), so I’ll be happy when I have my own backyard workers! They can eat the squash vine borer larvae, cutworms, and asparagus beetles!

Our yard is like a sea of grasshoppers, it’s so horrible *shudders* They'll never need to be fed with how many we get

Got three porcelain D’Uccle and a Mille Fleur D’Uccle (was hoping it was a Buff Brahma, oh well), they’re so bitty! They just arrived at the store today, it was so hard leaving all the different colour silkies behind! Best not to push my luck though…

I love seeing the mystery boxes! So much fun!

The Meyers group sounds gorgeous The egg variety will be stunning! I’d probably separate too, it’s so fiddly to deal with banding

Meyers is not currently shipping to UT, so the first order is up in the air right now. I’m not sure how much will change in the two weeks… And wow that snuck up on me! Might need to buy another lamp

i have never had chickens and we don't order every year though i would love that last year we got the 2nd order we have ever gotten and i git the hatchery choice guinea hens from cackle figuring yeah we will get all colors we don't have but with my luck we got a box of dead chicks colors we didn't have then got a new box all the one color we have well except 2 one was taken by a coyote though i have planned though when we do get more I'm gonna get the guinea farm 12 rare assorted keet package funny thing is its less expensive then the cackle hatchery choice guineas free shipping for guinea farms the thing is we ordered our last batch 9 or 8 years after the first batch so might be a while i need a hatchery choic one because i love the surprise of what colors and genders since with the guinea hens gender doesn't matter
