Sussex as chicks, the fluff is yellow on the belly. And that stripe.

It all looks yellow to me I swear they all have 500 different leg colours too lol. So far no white coming in on the chest yet

June McMurrays order officially cancelled!

We’ve been losing our porcelain D’Uccle chicks and now have just the one left. After looking at all the different options, I decided to place an order through Meyers. It ended up being cheaper even including shipping and I’ll just get the Cochins locally (probably going with mottled instead of blue, I’ll get blue frizzles)

Hopefully I can pass off my bad Welsummer luck and finally get the correct breed AND gender

Silver Laced Polish

What are the off chances that they’re pullets? Lol. They had white topped black pullets, but the other colours have never even been listed as available anywhere. I’ve gotten buff laced and they also had gold laced today as well. Of course no one knew at the store when I asked, just said they were black topped white

Meyers Polish have shipped, but no Faverolles. They might be in a second shipment? If not, there’s some coming to the feed store in a few weeks. I’m just getting pretty mistrustful of their “pullets.” At least they can’t swap out a different breed accidentally, thank you fifth toes!

I got an accidental Welsummer. I'm in Utah and I would sell her to you if my kid weren't so attached to her already. We call her "stripey chick". On the plus side, Sussex are lovely. I know I'm no help

My first-ever chicks ship 18 April. And my husband has surgery for a torn meniscus the 21st. Cackle's website says three days, but I know from reading BYC posts that it sometimes takes longer.

I'm not asking for advice, just...y'all talk me down off the worry cliff, please? I've got the coop built, with some finishing touches yet to go, and I'm doing most of those myself, since DH is hobbling around and in pain.

Also: as much research as I've done (I'm talking years of research), I can't believe I have such jitters and lack of confidence with this! And they're not even HERE yet!

First of all warm thoughts to your husband for a successful surgery

They can stay in the post box for a whole day if needed.

The chicks will be fine. They don’t even need a coop for a long time. Put them in their brooder and check the heat. Elevate the water so they don’t just throw shavings into it and plug it up. Sorry that was advice.

It’ll be fine! They aren’t hard pets to take care of!

You’ll do great! They’re super easy the first few days and I don’t like to mess with them too much anyway

I am getting my fourth set of peepers this month as well and there are ALWAYS jitters around the order, ship, delivery etc. LizzyJo is right, get a cardboard box, get your heat source, water and chick food all set up. When they arrive show each one how to drink and then leave them be for a bit as they need to recover from their long journey. Good luck and sending good vibes to you and your husband for his surgery and a speedy recovery!
