2026 Chick Thread!

First batch hatched 2/4 (I'm a little late posting). This batch included: Silverudd's Blue, BCM, Blue Copper Marans, Fibro EE (hobby project), and F1 and F3 OE.

They're here! Brown face in front is the EE, penguin is OE (with a hint of feathers on shanks), gold is a GSL, and there is a barred Rock in back. Rock and GSL are a week old, the EE and OE are newly hatched. They all seem happy/healthy. I was sad that there was a problem with the Welsummer hatch but I just went back to what I'd originally planned and it will be fine. The adults are VERY interested in the sounds next door. I held a couple of them out for inspection and nobody tried to eat them. So, that's promising. 🤣

OH, and I remembered my shipping heat pack. I had an expired 40 hour and figured it couldn't hurt to bring it, I opened and wrapped it in a microfiber washcloth before we left. The drive is 45-60 minutes and I would rather be prepared than listen to that much distress peeping. It was brilliant, they got right up on that washcloth and napped.
