You shouldn't. Damp paper towels suck heat out of the chick (doesn't matter if it's the same temp. Water sucks heat like no-one's business) and can chill the chick. One tip I have come across a few times is painting the shrink-wrapped exposed bits of membrane with oil so that it loosens up and the chick can move some.

Don't spray water, either. That's actually a technique used to dehydrate goose eggs.

The yellowing is probably just were the membrane is drying out.
Green? I have no idea unless the yoak sack has busted and it looks sort of yellow greenish.

What is your humidity right now in the bator? If you have it at around 70, 75 it should keep him moist enough.. If he isnt out soon I think you need to finish this using the instructions given at the link I gave you earlier. Just DO NOT dump him out of the shell. Follow all steps~!

I would’ve tried to get him out but he has this huge vein still filled with blood... all of the other ones have dried up except this one ):

He’s all oiled up now and looks a lot more comfy hope he comes out on his own, that oil definitely made a huge difference!! Thanks

@Kelyon Im not a pro, but for now Id keep wetting it with the q tip when it dries again, keep doing that, but do not pull the membrane at all just keep wetting. And hopefully it should slowly absorb the yolk and veins. Very very slow business :barrie and nerving And if when you see no more blood vessels after some hours then you can VERY carefully and slowly peel the membrane.
If he only has to absorb the yoke, put him gently in a tiny cup (called the 'duck in a cup') so he won't move and pull at his 'umbilical cord '. And then let him sit and absorb the yoke Hopefully it will an occasion you don't have to do it
