My chicken was 2.7 pounds and I woke up one day to find her looking this way. I knew she wasn't well for some time but I couldn't figure out what the issue was.

I brought her to the vet and told the doctor putting her down was not an option and I'll spend any amount of money. He took an x-ray and say he saw two masses in her ovary which one was misshaped and was possibly an egg. He said he felt the best course of action was to hospitalize her so I did. When she came home I made sure she was eating and when she wasn't I helped her out!

This is her after three weeks/1 month and she's laying eggs!!!!! And has regained over a pound, during recovery!!!

I am glad your girl is doing better. That is one astronomical vet bill. I am so lucky to have a vet office with reasonable rates and a part-time vet whose daughter has 4-H chickens, so she knows quite a bit about poultry.

I have flinched at $100 vet bills for poultry, but I will admit to shelling out almost $6,000 to keep my heart dog, Holly, a Keeshond, alive after she was diagnosed with cancer. ISU veterinary hospital kept her going for 18 months, and I have no regrets about the cost or the 120-mile round trips. Bless you for taking care of your girl. And, best wishes for her continued recovery.

$ 2550 vet bill. In the first instance I would assume this to be a decimal point fault, as $255 would still be a hefty sum.

How many days did she stay in this Animal Clinic? What exactly comprised the treatment?

I wonder if they did break down each single item to make this horrendous amount somewhat justifiable and plausible?

If not, I would ask them for a detailed listing of each procedure and the drugs used.

No, here in the US one can very quickly get a $2500 get bill. Xrays alone are at least $200.

Exam fee
Emergency fee
Xrays
Fluids
Lab tests
Overnight hospitalization
Medications
Tube feeding

All these add up very quickly.
