Hello everyone!

I'm so glad everyones babies seem to be doing good! Well Gretta is all done, she hatched 7 out of 8! Pretty good for a first time broody. I cracked the one egg open that didn't hatch and it had stopped developing at about 3 or 4 days, so 7 out of 8 is pretty good. Let's hope they don't all turn out to be roosters!

Still no chicks here...just yet. Not even any peeping noises, but I remain optimistic.

I have one egg that seems to be pipping/zipping at this point. It (strangely enough) appears to be an egg that had a dimple crack, and hairline crack off of that - from jarring against one of the other eggs a couple of weeks ago...

I was not willing to just give up and throw it out, so I followed the advice on BYC, melted some candle wax and applied a modest layer to the cracked areas...now, although those cracks clearly look like they're widening and lengthening, there is no telltale bad odor emanating from the egg, so I'll watch (closely) and observe what develops with that one, and the other eggs as well.

It's very nice to be able to view the photos of the other newly hatched fuzzies, and I offer my hearty congratulations to all my "hatch buddies", on jobs well done!

Okay...the "float test" is not familiar to me (first time hatch, and I make no claim to know or have read all there is available out there).

Please share and enlighten me!

Thanks so much!

I have 3 more to go, 2 of which are in a race here like my last 2. I am so tickled as my rooster is lavender along with gold and some teal green. He looks charcoal kind of. All but 2 of the babies so far have purple in them. One is like a vanilla color with a purple mohawk lol.
