2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Chickenstock May 4, 2013

ok those are officaly the funkiest chickens i've ever seen but to be honest.. i want a show girl now my self i like the funky lookin ones so adorable

Thanks for liking him lol most people either love them or hate them. I like their sweet personality the most, but the white ones with the black skin just caught my eye one day and I have been in love ever since :) I am hoping to raise whites and paints, we will see how the hatch goes to get me started! I prefer the bearded ones, this one hatched beardless, so I really hope some of the females will be bearded. I wish I could have gotten more to hatch earlier so I could bring chicks with me to chickenstock, but I have not had great luck this spring with shipped eggs. Birdguys' eggs are the only eggs that hatched well--I got 26/30 with his. so that helped lighten my spirits a bit :) Even if lots of the sexlinks were boys lol that is the way it goes for me, I have the Midas touch for male chicks

They are so cute. They look like a naked neck crossed with a silkie. so pretty.

That is exactly what they are, It takes several generations to get all the traits right, but that is where they begin :) You end up with a silkied feathered, blue/black skinned, naked necked, bow tied, five toe'd, feather footed, vaulted skulled creature like that :D

Wooohoo! I just found out we'll be able to make it to the show! AND I'll have freshly hatched turkey poults I can bring! Anyone interested in Penciled Palms? 6 eggs are doing really well.

You might ask BackYardChknLvr about carpooling. She is heading up Friday morning. It is going to be fun meeting everyone face to face!

I have a Wheaten Marans chick and a Barnevelder chick, from SQ stock from a breeder in Texas. They are the only two I have left for sale from my hatch yesterday, if anyone wants to reserve them and buy them at Chickenstock I will bring them with me. $6 each, straight run

I would love to, but we've already reserved camp grounds for a multiple day trip. :( We're going to hit some hot-springs, the Carmela winery, and just make it into a weekend road trip.

Awwww....

we have been looking for decent winter layers as well as different colors of eggs. Would you say Barnevelders fit the bill? LOVE the lacing on the hens I found pics of. Did this baby come from a dark brown egg?

Other breeds I am looking at : Sussex, Australorp, & Ameracauna's just for fun

Not too impressed with the free loading Easter Eggers I've had, but the blue eggs from an Ameracauna just might redeem their non-laying in the winter ;)

I really like your plan for the Chickenstock weekend - sounds like a great trip :)
