2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Chickenstock May 4, 2013

Awwww....

we have been looking for decent winter layers as well as different colors of eggs. Would you say Barnevelders fit the bill? LOVE the lacing on the hens I found pics of. Did this baby come from a dark brown egg?

Other breeds I am looking at : Sussex, Australorp, & Ameracauna's just for fun

Not too impressed with the free loading Easter Eggers I've had, but the blue eggs from an Ameracauna just might redeem their non-laying in the winter ;)

I really like your plan for the Chickenstock weekend - sounds like a great trip :)

hey let ya know i will be selling an ameracauna up at chicken stock, she is gorgiouse here is a pic of her
her name is Blu

Can I call dibs on the Wheaten Maran chicks, pretty please? That is one of the breeds I have been wanting since I started tyis whole chicken craziness. I can pay for and pick them up when I am up at Chickenstock.
I have a Wheaten Marans chick and a Barnevelder chick, from SQ stock from a breeder in Texas. They are the only two I have left for sale from my hatch yesterday, if anyone wants to reserve them and buy them at Chickenstock I will bring them with me. $6 each, straight run

Wheaten marans

Barnevelder

Mo5C you have the wheaten marans, I will bring it to you at Chickenstock. Will pm you before the event.

Question about the Barnie--I have not raised them, I got the eggs from a breeder in Texas so I could not tell you about the winter laying capabilities--but it came from a rich rusty brown egg, not as chocolatey looking as the Marans eggs look, more red/orange undertones but dark orangey reddish brown like spiced cider. Lol Very pretty egg. Very glossy.

I so want one of your showgirls gona be bringing any of them to chicken stock?

No, my eggs that are in the bator now won't hatch until after--I sold all the ones from my last hatch--I have a lot of people that are wanting some but I am truly hatching this batch to get the best quality females for breeding with Vinnie-- so I am keeping them and growing them out a bit before I decide who to sell....I will post if I have extras but it will be likely in June or July when they are teenagers. Unless I get an unheard of hatch on these eggs (lol!) I can dream, right? I have 34 shipped eggs in, about half have funky air cells.
